Origin[]
Drax is a Kryptonian criminal trapped in the Phantom Zone. After being routinely defeated by Superman and returned to the Phantom Zone, Kryptonian criminals allied together and were able to create a near genetic equal to Superman. They engineered him to be immune to Kryptonite and named him Drax. Drax' sole purpose was to eliminate Superman. For years, Drax grew up in the Phantom Zone, was greatly influenced by evil, and bears the shield of Zod.
Clark Kent accidentally frees from the Phantom Zone, using the Phantom Zone Projector. Since the Phantom Zone exists in interdimensional space, Drax was able to escape through a time tunnel opened in the 30th century. Drax tore through the Superman Museum and wreaked havoc in New Metropolis. It appeared that Drax either had a telepathic link with his creators or suffered mental trauma from their conditioning. Accompanied by his pets, Drax succeeded in destroying the Phantom Zone Projector and moved to kill Superman. However, just as the Legion returned, Superman threw Drax back into the Zone.
The Phantom Zone criminals are capable of contacting him, prompting him to attempt to free them. Drax has a hatred of Superman, as well an air of superiority about him, and taunts the young Clark with the fact that he has no idea of his future or what he will become. He was born in the Phantom Zone and claims that's where he gets his powers from.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Kryptonian Physiology: Drax has the standard Kryptonian power exposed to yellow sun radiation. He possesses the ability to fly under his own power, incredible strength and near invulnerability. His eyes can emit bursts of heat, while vision ranges from the microscopic to the telescopic. His vision is also capable of a broader spectrum than human eyes, able to see x-rays and radio waves. He can hear faint sounds amongst a bustle of noises by concentrating. His lungs are capable of holding air for long periods of time in environments without oxygen, and the ability to compress this air and exhale it in a freezing capacity.

- Kryptonite Resistance: Drax is virtually invulnerable as he had the Kryptonite weakness removed. When Brainiac 5 tries to use Kryptonite on him it has no effect.
Weakness[]
- Red Sun Radiation: As red stars put out different wavelengths of light than Yellow Stars (Red is a lower-energy wavelength than yellow), Kryptonians, including Drax, and will rapidly lose their powers under red stellar radiation.
- Magic: Magic can have powerful and unpredictable effects on Kryptonians, and the same could be applied to Drax.
- Walking: He was raised in the Phantom Zone and had no concept of walking until he arrived on Earth. But he soon adapted.
