Zoe Saugin was born on Aleph but often accompanied her mother on archaeological digs. When Saugin's mother became ill, she sought out an artifact from the Moon of Kol and healed her. After that event, she discovered when she was in contact with other mystical objects, they gave her a variation of telekinesis in which she could animate inanimate objects. Saugin happily used this ability to aid her mother's digs but Aleph's ruling council drafted her to apply for the Legion of Superheroes. As Kinetix, she donned an archaeologists' tool belt. She was rejected on the basis that she needed to be in proximity of mystical object to use her power.
