History[]
Origin[]
Peter Dursin was born on Earth with abnormally rough skin. Eventually, Dursin began to develop quill-like protrusins all over his body. In time, he learned how to project these protrusions as weapons. Although he lacked physical affection, his parents still raised him and loved him.
The Substitutes[]
Dursin's charming personality won over many friends whom suggested he apply for the Legion of Superheroes. He came to admire the Legion and Lightning Lad in particular. In an effort to gain better control of his power, Dursin attended a preparation course taught by Bouncing Boy and passed as Porcupine Pete. However, during his audition, he failed to impress the Legion. Inspired by Bouncing Boy, Pete went on with several fellow rejects to form the Legion of Substitute Heroes and defeated Starfinger. They even helped save the Earth.
The Legion of Superheroes made an arrangement for them to handle cases they were to busy to deal with and gave them Flight Rings. During universal threats, the Substitutes arrived to help, including the Sun Eater and Brainiac cases.
Powers[]
Porcupine Pete's entire body is studded with pointed projectiles resembling the quills of a porcupine. Through an act of will, Pete can launch his quills from his body either in groupings for a localized effect, or all at once for a larger area effect.
Equipment[]
- Legion Flight Ring: Like all Legionaries Porcupine Pete wears a flight ring. It allows him self propelled flight and protection in the vacuum of space.
