Ultra Boy is a member of the Legion of Superheroes.
History[]
Origin[]
Ultra Boy aka Jo Nah was born on Rimbor, a world where gang warfare was a part of culture. Despite this, Nah remained a good person. While waiting to play with a Space Dragon, he was swallowed by an Ultra-Energy Beast. While trapped inside, he absorbed the energy of the beast. After escaping, he discovered he had certain powers if he verbally shouted them out.
Champions[]
Jo Nah sought out to start a new life and competed in the 343rd Intergalactic Games on Olympus 12. In the end, he valiantly fought against the Fatal Five using his ultra powers, calling out each as he activated them. Finally freezing Emerald Empress with his Ultra-Breath. By the end of the battle he had won the heart of Phantom Girl.
Sundown[]
Some time later, he joined the Legion as "Ultra Boy". He was among the Legionaries when the battled the Controller, who had released the deadly weapon the Sun-Eater.
Dark Victory[]
He was among the Legionaries who fought in the final stand against Brainiac 1.0.
Powers[]
Ultra Boy's source of power comes from the exposure of the radiation inside the Ultra-Energy Beast. He has the powers of superhuman strength, flight, penetra-vision (similar to Kryptonian x-ray vision, except penetra-vision allows him to see through lead), flash vision (similar to heat vision), invulnerability, and ultra-speed. All of these abilities seem to be at Kryptonian power levels, but he can only use one at a time. Also he does not appear to have super hearing. Whereas Superman's heat vision is usually depicted as red beams, Ultra Boy's flash vision is depicted as blue beams. He uses his Ultra-Breath freeze Emerald Empress.
Weakness[]
- One Power at a Time: As mentioned above, one serious limitation to his ultra-powers is that he can only use one at a time. This means that if he wants to fly through space at super-speed he must wear a spacesuit to survive in the cold vacuum. When using his power for super-strength he is not invulnerable and can therefore get tired, feel muscular pain or even pull a muscle.

- Legion Flight Ring: Like all Legionaries Ultra Boy wears a flight ring. It allows him self propelled flight and protection in the vacuum of space.
